Error manager of pid file quit without updating file
At one point I had to restart My SQL (which up to this point was running fine), and received this error: After a good 20 minutes spent on Google trying various things (hunting down the mysql.plugin file to verify its permissions, removing my file, verifying my file was getting erased, etc), I finally stumbled upon the answer: My SQL was still running under a different hostname.

120915 mysqld_safe mysqld from pid file /var/lib/mysql/server1ended Please try to follow the below steps : ps -ef |grep mysql|awk ''|xargs kill -9 (This finds and kills all mysql processes) touch /tmp/Other locations are possible. /var/tmp/(creates a new mysql.sock) chown -R mysql:mysql (Must be in same folder as or specify path) which mysql (tells you where mysql is.
Hello, I am getting this on my Mac: /usr/local/zend/bin/stop Stopping Zend Server 4.0.6 ..
The mysql.socket is no longer visible in /tmp eventhough mysql thinks it is.
So I was working at home over the weekend using My SQL on my Mac Book running OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard), put my computer to sleep then came in to the office this morning and opened it back up.
During a recent update using custom build, one of the items was mysql going from 5.1.55 to 5.1.56, not a big update I assumed etc..
Well after mysql was updated it failed to start throwing the following error.
So possible solutions are, first up try a straight restart: [email protected][/usr/local/mysql/data]: sudo /usr/local/mysql/support-files/mysql.server start Starting My SQL . The server quit without updating PID file (/usr/local/mysql/data/neils-i Mac.local.pid).
Not too sure about recreating the file, i tried this and it just removed itself!
I would also like to Thank Jeff @ No Baloney for his warm voice and a few quick jokes while speaking with him on the phone.
